About

The best design gets out of the user's way.

LOUDSPARKS started in 2012, in Bucharest, with a simple idea: photographers and artists deserve websites that put their work first. We spent several years building elegant portfolio sites — galleries that felt like exhibitions, with custom back-offices so artists could update their work without coming back to us every week.

Our clients ranged from celebrity hairstylists in New York and fashion photographers to travel and editorial shooters across Europe and the US. Along the way we released two free portfolio templates — Auro and Story Book — that were downloaded by thousands of photographers. The web has moved on from the Flash and jQuery toolset those templates relied on, but the design discipline behind them hasn't: keep it calm, keep it clear, let the work speak.

Today, we apply that same discipline to product surfaces. We design and build white-label web applications for coaches, course creators and small studios who need something more considered than a templated SaaS but don't want the overhead of a large agency. Our most recent project is a coaching platform for personal trainers — you can read the case study.

We take on a small number of engagements each year, ideally with clients who care about typography, structure and slow craft. If that sounds like your project, say hello.
